Welcome to our Counseling page!

Hello, I am April Brough, half time school counselor and coordinator of the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance program (CCG) at Taylor Canyon Elementary.  The goal of the state CCG program is that all of our students have all the tools and support they need to become career and college ready by the time they graduate from high school.  CCG services are delivered through:

Classroom Guidance Curriculum – lessons center on developing competencies in personal/social, academic, and career exploration.    Sample topics include: stress, anti-bullying, college/career exploration, friendship, conflict resolutions, refusal skills, how to get along with others, personal space, internet safety, etc.

Individual Student Planning – work with students on issues that interfere with school achievement.

Responsive Services – meeting immediate student needs (referrals to counseling, short term interventions, peer mediation, and small groups.

System Support – school wide program planning and implementation, consulting with other professionals, and coordinating services for students and families

Our Counseling and Guidance program is aligned with the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support).  Our guidance lessons are used as interventions for issues that interfere with learning and student growth.

-April Brough
