White Ribbon Week

Updated on 2017-01-20

Parents, this week (Jan. 23rd-27th) is white ribbon week. This is a good opportunity for us as parents to talk to our children about Internet Safety.

Please find the time to talk to them and explain what’s appropriate while browsing the Internet, so when unappropriate viewings pop up or certain conversations with their peers come up they feel more comfortable to come to us as parents. This isn’t an easy topic to discuss with our children, but there are websites for tips we can get more information. A helpful site to start at is

As parents, teachers and community let’s teach our children proper Internet usage to keep them safe. Thanks in advance!

Everyday we have a new theme for the children to dress up to show support for Internet Safety Week.

Monday-  “Live to have fun!” (Sock Day- wear mismatched socks)

Tuesday-  “See something, say something” (Docorate Eyeglasses and/or Wear Mustaches)

Wednesday-  “Live to follow your favorite character.” (Wear a t-shirt of a MODEST role model)

Thursday-  “Don’t let bad pictures Tie you up.” (Wear a funny TIE)

Friday-  “Don’t miss out on showing school pride” (Wear school colors/shirt)

Each student will be given a white ribbon to tie to their coat or shoelaces. These are to remind them of the pledge they made. We will have small treats during recess at least once during the week for students who are wearing their ribbon.

Principal's Message

Updated on 2016-08-05

Hello Parents and Students

As you are getting ready for the new 2016-17 school year, I wanted to introduce myself and the new staff members that will be joining Taylor Canyon.

My name is Beverly Jenson and I am proud to say that I have been a part of the Ogden School District for my entire education career. I began my teaching career at Central Middle School where I was able to pilot the business section of the Technology, Life, Careers (TLC) program. The following year, I implemented the program at Mt. Ogden Middle School and became full-time there. I taught business and Keyboarding at Mt. Ogden for many years and loved working with the students. I had a great opportunity to experience a new path in my career when I became the New Teacher Specialist and worked with the new teachers as they joined our District. From that position, I became the Assistant Principal at Mt. Ogden Jr High, Principal at Dee Elementary and now Principal at Taylor Canyon. I am excited to be a part of the team and community at Taylor Canyon.

I am pleased to welcome to the Taylor Canyon team: Mrs. Lacey Nicholls, Secretary; Teachers: Mrs. Shelly Ripplinger, 3rd Grade, Mrs Anita Jacobson, 4TH Grade ALA, Ms. Erica Curtis, 5TH Grade Ms. April Brough, Counselor; Mrs. Audrey Christensen, Site-Tech; and Mr. Ryan Spencer, Kitchen Manager. These new staff members are experienced and will contribute greatly to our team.

Together (parents, students, teachers and staff) our Taylor Canyon students will achieve much. I look forward to seeing you at Back-to-School Night and the First Day of School.

---- Mrs. Jensen
