As the temperatures drop, please remember to dress your children warmly for the weather. Students will go out for recess, even when the weather is cold. If there is a storm, sometimes we will keep them in for recess when it is too wet. We will also keep them in for recess when the air quality is too poor according to the Utah Health Department (air.utah.gov).

Welcome back to another great year at New Bridge school! We are so excited and thankful for the amazing things that took place during this first year. As a school, we have a lot to celebrate. We officially became a Platinum school and were recognized during the June STEM conference in Provo. We also became one of the leading schools in the United States in implementing the Engineering process with the Launch program from Project Lead the Way. Finally, we celebrate our SAGE results and the many amazing students, parents and teachers that make our school one of the best in the state.
At New Bridge School, our philosophy is to meet every child individually wherever they are, struggling or excelling. Therefore, the need for an adjustment in schedule is imperative. Beginning in August 2017, students will be released daily at 2:30 pm instead of 3:00. While this might require changes in your planning time, we felt that it was necessary to continue providing the best instruction for our students..
Currently the teachers have a one-hour preparation period during the day while the students are on the computer. As our school grows, the need to adapt our instruction and refine our practices is essential. By shortening the day by 30 minutes, we will reduce the preparation hour for teachers during the day and give them time after school to connect with other grade level teachers to align their instruction. The benefits this will bring to every student will be enormous.
Again, we do understand that there may be some concerns regarding these changes. If, after reading this you still have some concerns you wish to be addressed, please do not hesitate to call the school at (801) 737-8100, and a member of staff will be happy to explain the new release times in greater detail.
Thank you for your continued support.

Information about the STEM Fair:
The New Bridge School STEM Fair will be February 16, with an evening event for the parents (6-7:30 PM).
All projects will need to be at school on February 15 for set up for the fair.
The fair is required for 5-6th grade students, it is up to other grade levels whether they want to require it or not. The information will be offered to all students for participation even if their grade level does not require it.
Students can work individually or in groups up to 3. If a class chooses to do larger groups or a group project with the entire class, their work will be displayed and they will get a certificate of participation-however, the projects will not be judged and they will not qualify for medals (we are only ordering 3 medals per place).
Five top student projects from 6th grade will continue to the district. The top from the district continue to the Ritchey Science Fair at WSU. There is no further competition beyond the school for grades K-5.
There are four main categories of projects:
K-1 Scientific Collection
K-3 Scientific Research
K-6 Scientific Investigation (experiment)
K-6 Engineering Design
Complete Information and helpful documents can be found on our New Bridge STEM Page

Students attending New Bridge School are expected to wear uniforms to school to create a strong school culture and learning environment. Students can choose from tan or navy blue pants, skirts, or shorts with a light blue or burgundy collared shirt. The shirt can be either long or short sleeve. Pants can be cargo style with pockets. The shirt shouldn't have any large insignias or printing.
Several stores and online retailers sell school uniforms. Suggestions are to check Walmart, JC Penny's and Old Navy, along http://www.childrensplace.com and other online retailers. New Bridge students are going to look sharp dressed for success!
To see examples of uniform options and for more information check out the Facebook post at https://www.facebook.com/newbridgeSTEM/posts/226613494375416 Please ask the school any questions you have about the uniform.
